WHAT IS A SERVICE DOG?

A service dog is a canine that performs tasks for his or her owner due to their disability. These animals go through specific training to learn and demonstrate skills that will be used in order to help guide, assist or comfort their owners. Individuals who are visually or hearing impaired, have a mental or emotional disorder, suffer from anxiety or PTSD, have diabetes, require help with their mobility, or even those who have been diagnosed with autism or ADHD, are all candidates to be given permission to have a service dog. All individuals must receive a note from their doctor or psychiatrist in order to be able to register and keep their canine as a service animal.
